I Did Not Want To Do Music-Joe Mettle
Although he is into full professional
gospel music at the moment, Joseph Oscar Nii Mettle, popularly known as
Joe Mettle, has revealed that he wanted to be an architect when he was
growing up.
The multiple award-winning Ghanaian gospel singer and
songwriter, speaking in interview with Prince Benjamin, host of the
Class Drive said: “Growing up, I wanted to be an architect, which I
started, I just didn’t get to finish. But alongside, I still wanted to
do music. I didn’t know it was going to be this but I wanted to do
music. As part of my architecture dreams I still pursued a bit of
music.”
I realised the music gift at an early stage of
my life, somewhere around thirteen, fifteen years but how it was going
to happen I didn’t know. It was a dream I realised. I realised that it
was a calling just be able to sing to people…I realised that God wanted
me to do it but as to how it was going to happen, I didn’t know.”
He further indicated: “I
just had to trust him [God]. Growing up, my whole life has been a
testimony and I have seen God do too much to doubt him. My life actually
depends on the grace of God. I was sick when I was young and it took
the grace of God to be healed so my whole life depended on him.
Joe Mettle further told Prince Benjamin he has been engaged in professional music for the past seven to eight years.
