George Forest Was With Different Touch

el musician Philipa Baafi has described sound engineer George Forest as an extraordinary human being who never joked with his work.

The multiple award-winning Ghanaian sound engineer known for producing most of the biggest Gospel songs in Ghana reportedly died Wednesday morning.

He took ill and admitted at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi on August 30, 2016 but died in the wee hours of August 31, 2016.

Speaking exclusively to 3news.com an emotional Philipa Baafi described the late George Forest as a sound engineer with a difference.

“George was an extraordinary human, a sound engineer with a difference.

“He is a very serious man with his work and very private and he called his studio ‘Forest’ because when it was time to work, it was just you and him and nobody else”.

According to Philipa, George always wanted the local African element in his music so he gave every song he worked on the highlife rhythm because he never preferred the foreign rhythm in songs he produced.

“He was very particular about the beats to his song that he produced, so what he usually does was to listen to song and tuned to suit the highlife rhythm which I found very fascinating.

“George would always make sure you prayed over every production you bring to him because he believed prayer was a very key element in how far your music can make an impact.

“I will surely miss him and will never forget the man George Forest”.

The popular Kumasi-based sound engineer owns a band called the Adepa Band. He also worked on songs by seasoned musicians such as Nana Acheampong, Obaapa Christy, Philipa Baafi, Gifty Osei, Doris Gyamo among other renowned musicians.

George Forest aside his contribution to Gospel music is also credited with a number of hits including Nana Acheampong`s “Anka Ebeye Den Na Aye Wo Ya”. He has also produced several hits for Gospel musician Cecilia Marfo

Go Back To The Class Room Nii Lante

Ranking Member of the Select Committee on Youth & Sports, Isaac Asiamah has told the Minister for Youth and Sports to go back to the classroom and learn what is expected from the position he is occupying rather than disturb the public with insults on whoever criticizes his performance.

In his view, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, has since his appointment, demonstrated incompetence in the discharge of his duties as a Sports Minister and ought to have been sacked by the President by now.

Asiamah who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua Constituency made this observation in an interaction with Kasapa FM on Tuesday.

He was responding to attacks on his persona by the Sports Minister for criticizing his performance.

Vanderpuije is reported to have said that the Ghana Premier League is not attractive.

However, Asiamah in response shifted the blame on the Sports Minister and challenged him to come out with pragmatic solutions to turn things around since it is his responsibility as the sector Minister to make the football league attractive.

He went further to call on the President to sack the Sports Minister for displaying incompetence on his job.

Vanderpuije who was not comfortable with the criticism in a message sent on a whatsapp platform belonging to a group of Sports Journalists is said to have described Asiamah as “Okuraseni” to wit villager who has connived with the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi and others to tarnish his hard earned reputation.

But the Atwima Mponua legislature responding to the message said he was very surprised that the Sports Minister has ignored responding to the issues he raised and rather chose to insult him.

“All that he is doing are part of the incompetence that I am talking about. He doesn’t know what he is doing. He has no knowledge about the Ministerial portfolio he’s handling and should go back to the classroom to learn. This will enable him to understand what is required of him better”, he noted.

Talk About Others Because Am Tired- Yvonne Nelson

Actress Yvonne Nelson said she has had enough of Ghanaians always expressing ideas about her.

The "If Tomorrow Never Comes" actress has stated in an interview with Hitz FM that it is time Ghanaians turn their attention to other public figures in the country because everything cannot be about her always.

She said people track her a lot trying to figure out everything she is doing.

“People are still concerned about who I’m hanging out with, what I’m wearing, where I’m sleeping, what I’m posting on Instagram, I don’t understand.

Charley, we are many so can they also talk about other people? I’m just tired” Yvonne told MzGee.

She admitted that Ghanaians talking about her helped boost her career.

“I enjoyed it. I think it's helped me whether negative or positive because its all part of the job. I love it. Sometimes I wake up and I don’t see anything about me and I’m like “I’m I safe? Is everything OK?”

Is This Surprising From A Plus

We’ve seen several Ghanaian celebrities, even those without any pull factor or social media influence making strong political declarations for the NDC on social media.

It’s been slow for the NPP in that respect but now, comedian/musician, A-Plus who has a huge social media influence, capable of influencing the direction of conversations has made a declaration for the NPP and Nana Akufo Addo.

A few hours ago, A-Plus changed his Facebook profile to the above, bearing NPP’s message and party colours and the profile picture has already received over 2400 likes from his followers.

It does seem like the conversation and campaign is about to get heated on social media.

We Gave Promzy Freedom-VVIP

Multiple award-winning hiplife trio VVIP claim the 2013 exit of Promzy wasn’t a surprise to them.

The trio now made up of Zeal, Prodigal and Reggie Rockstone revealed this in an interview with Basiwa Dowuona-Hammond on GhOne TV’s GH Today.

Prodigal, answering a question on group’s break-up told the host “I think patience is very important…if somebody is tired of something and says “this is what I want to do”, you have to give them a try.

You can’t stop people, you can never sit on people’s happiness. That’s how we are as a group. If Reggie decides that he wants to resign now, that he is grown and doesn’t want to sing anymore, we can’t put a gun on Reggie that we have a show or we need to sing.

We had a vision from day one that we wanted to be the group that will always be there. We had broken-heart [sic] when Friction and Bone left the group ,so Promzy’s exit from the group wasn’t a surprise to us.

Our fans were a little disappointed in us but now they are used to us. It’s music – the more you give them good music, the more they love you.”

The group’s single, Alhaji, features Nigeria’s Patoranking, and is out now, while Promzy has reportedly teamed up with BukBak’s Bright to form a new group BP.

Goat Chewing Mahama Posters Tells It All- Priest

Togbe Kedinapo is warning of an imminent defeat for President Mahama ahead of the December 7 general elections.

According to him, the goat caught chewing the president’s posters is a bad omen for the electoral fortunes of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

A video of a goat chewing the campaign poster of President Mahama somewhere in the Western region has gone viral on social media. This, many described as very mysterious claiming it might be a sign of an imminent defeat for the Mahama-led government. To make the issue murkier, a veterinary surgeon, Darlington Owusu said it is very weird for a goat to chew paper. He explained that a goat as a herbivorous animal only eats plants including grass thus it is impossible for its system to digest paper.

This gives more credence to the spiritual connotation of Togbe Kedinapo about the action of the goat. In an interview on Adom News, he maintained that, until President Mahama pacifies himself, he will lose the December 7 elections.

Abraham Attah starts donating 10,000 Toms shoes

Child movie star Abraham Attah has started donating the 10,000 pairs of Toms footwears he grabbed international headlines with at the 2016 Academy Awards.

The actor, who wore a pair of velvet Toms to the 88th Oscars in February this year, speaking to Ryan Seacrest of E! revealed that the shoe brand will donate 10,000 pairs of the shoes to Ghanaians.

Mr Attah kicked off the donation of the footwear after a press launch at the Gold Coast Restaurant in Airport West in Accra Thursday.

“I want to say ‘Thank You’ to Toms for giving me this opportunity to give out 10,000 shoes to give to the needy in Ghana,” he said.

He kicked off the donation at his former school, Ashiaman Primary and JSS where he donated 30 boxes of the footwear to his former school mates. He also donated 30 boxes of the Toms to the Ashiaman community.

Mr Attah’s team, in collaboration with Bright Future Organization, would be in charge of distributing the footwears to the various charity organisations and institutions including Bujumbura Refugee Camp.

At the press briefing to kick off the donation was attended by some cast members from ‘Beast of No Nation’ including Ama K. Abebrese, 'Striker' and 'Justice'.

Bernice Dapaah, a representative of Bright Future Generation, an NGO who represents Toms in Ghana was also in attendance.

Have Never Dated Paedae- Sandra

TV personality and Lawyer, Sandra Ankobiah, has categorically stated that she never said she dated rapper, Paedae, also known as Omar Sterling.

News went viral last year that Sandra and Paedae had secretly dated for two years until the latter eventually disclosed their relationship during a radio interview on Live FM in 2015.

“We are very private people; myself and Mugeez. I mean this same person people are talking about, we’ve been kicking it for two years,” Paedae said.

The relationship was firmly grounded during the 2015 Celebrity Soccer Weekend games where Sandra made an appearance at the Lizzy Sports Complex to support Paedae and his ‘R2bees Team’.

She took her cheerleading a notch further by wearing a jersey with ‘Omar Sterling’ boldly written on the back.

But making an appearance on Viasat1’s flagship morning show, This Morning, for the first time since last December, Sandra denied dating Paedae.
Responding to a question from a viewer as to whether or not she was still dating Paedae, the fashionista said she never said she was dating the rapper in the first place. “

But did Sandra even say she was dating Paedae?” she quizzed, adding that people just assumed she was dating the rapper because of pictures they saw on the internet.

Asked whether they ever dated or were still dating, she said “I am happy”. She added though that she loves R2Bees and their music.

The break up

In March this year, news broke again that Sandra and Paedae had called it quit.
A report on GHBase website claimed it was Sandra who called off the relationship. The report said: Our source, tells us that the relationship ended some few weeks ago and Sandra was the one who called it quits.

Our source did not disclose to us the main reason for the breakup but rumours, Ghbase.com gathers is that, Sandra got pregnant in the relationship and wanted to get married as soon as possible before even giving birth but Paedae wasn’t ready for it.

It turns out that, Sandra was disappointed in Paedae and then asked for the breakup. We cannot tell if she’s still keeping the baby or not but another source disclosed to us that, she MIGHT have aborted the baby when she visited the UK recently with her bestie, Yvonne Okoro.

NDC Is The Cause Of All Internal Confusions- John Boadu

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is blaming the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the recent skirmishes within its rank and file.

At a news conference held at the party’s headquarters in Accra, acting General Secretary of NPP, John Boadu, said evidence gathered points to the NDC as the sponsor and orchestrator of the bad press the party received over the last two years.

“Much of the problems in the New Patriotic Party were orchestrated, sponsored and fueled by the ruling party. Have you all noted that since 2016 the report of NPP on NPP have all stopped? This is so because the party took decisive measures to tackle those things,” he said.

Political activities in the country have peaked as Ghanaians prepare for the December 7 polls.

Both the NDC and NPP have been at each other's throat in a bid to win the media war and also to win the hearts and minds of the electorate.

At a rally in the Northern Region, John Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC who is also the president, told party supporters a vote for the NPP presidential candidate, is vote for a dictator and they must desist from that.

According to him, the NPP has become undemocratic under Mr Akufo-Addo with dissenting views silenced or shown the exit.

But the NPP said many of the chaos that happened in the party early last year were sponsored by the government.

Speaking to the issue on Joy FM’s Top Story programme Thursday, Mr Boadu warned of possible "bloodbath" if the government continuously use the national security personnel to forment trouble within the NPP.

Mr Boadu said the glee with which the President talks about the NPP on his campaign trails is evident enough that he had a hand in what happened in the NPP.

“Already he has started with the focus of his recent campaign speeches, these attacks on the NPP and a deliberate dragging of the party’s image in the mud has followed a clear pattern in the last year,” he complained. “Our worry is that the plot is getting bigger and more deadly.”

Mr Boadu said the democracy of the country stands to be “severely damaged” if focus is not brought to utterances of elements with the NDC.

Coordinator of NDC 2016 Campaign, Kofi Adams, has described the NPP claims as baseless. He said the NPP has kept the police busier than armed robbers have over the period.

The NPP has been quick to refer to the suspension of Kofi Adams by the NDC to justify why it had to suspend its own chairman and general secretary but Kofi Adams said the NPP cannot make such comparisons.

“My car was never smashed at party headquarters, acid was never poured on anybody in NDC and machetes used on any member of the NDC, all these happened in the NPP,” he said.

These he said are significantly different from what happened in the NDC which resulted in his suspension.

Never Again Will We Go To Prison Again-- Montie 3

Hundreds of party supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress thronged the premises of Radio Gold Friday to welcome the return of a presenter and two panelists who were released from prison on the altar of mercy by president John Mahama.

With white handkerchiefs, songs, dance and sprinkling of powder, the supporters welcomed Salifu Maase, Godwin Ako Gunn and Allistair Nelson, the famous three who were jailed four months for scandalising the court.

They had threatened to kill judges who sat on a case involving the Electoral Commission and to rape the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood, if judgement did not go the way they wanted.

They pleaded guilty for contempt and were jailed accordingly for four months but barely a month into their term, the president under Article 72 of the Constitution invoked his power of mercy and remitted the four month sentence.

Salifu Maase and Alistair Nelson were smartly dressed in silky blue jackets and with white shirts within, whilst Godwin Ako-Gunn wore a black jacket with a white shirt within.

All of them swapping gentle smiles were welcomed by an even more ecstatic crowd who gave them a heroes' welcome with pomp and festival.

Salifu Maase popularly called Mugabe addressed the crowd but not before the MC shouted "bie gya" [open fire] the popular signature phrase which were used when the three poured invectives at the judges and threatened them.

"Bie gya! More fire! Unstoppable! Unstoppable! Unshakeable! Unstoppable!"the MC fired the crowd up. And they shouted in return.

Salifu Maase, in his freedom speech could not hide his excitement.

"We give praise and thanks to the Almighty for keeping us safe during our imprisonment and giving our wives and families strengths to cope with the situation we found ourselves in.

"We will like to take this opportunity to thank the president of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for graciously exercising his constitutional powers under Article 72," he said.

Salifu Maase also apologised to the Chief Justice for the unfortunate comments and threats they made against her and the judges.

I Did Not Want To Do Music-Joe Mettle

Although he is into full professional gospel music at the moment, Joseph Oscar Nii Mettle, popularly known as Joe Mettle, has revealed that he wanted to be an architect when he was growing up.

The multiple award-winning Ghanaian gospel singer and songwriter, speaking in interview with Prince Benjamin, host of the Class Drive said: “Growing up, I wanted to be an architect, which I started, I just didn’t get to finish. But alongside, I still wanted to do music. I didn’t know it was going to be this but I wanted to do music. As part of my architecture dreams I still pursued a bit of music.”

I realised the music gift at an early stage of my life, somewhere around thirteen, fifteen years but how it was going to happen I didn’t know. It was a dream I realised. I realised that it was a calling just be able to sing to people…I realised that God wanted me to do it but as to how it was going to happen, I didn’t know.”

He further indicated: “I just had to trust him [God]. Growing up, my whole life has been a testimony and I have seen God do too much to doubt him. My life actually depends on the grace of God. I was sick when I was young and it took the grace of God to be healed so my whole life depended on him.

Joe Mettle further told Prince Benjamin he has been engaged in professional music for the past seven to eight years.

Nyaho Tamakloe Is Judas Of Our Time-MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe constituency of the Ashanti Region Simon Osei Mensah, has described a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe as worst than Judas Iscariot.

According to him, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe in the last three years has failed to give a good account of himself as a paid- up member of the largest opposition party and therefore is undeserving to be called as such.

“He should tell me one good thing he has done or said for the party. I am challenging him to tell everybody what he has done for the party in the last couple of years”, he opinionated on the Abusua Nkomo hosted by Kwame Adinkra.

In his view, the party is better off without Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, advising him to respect himself and not carry himself around as a member of the NPP as this smacks of disgraceful conduct.

“I want this voice to be replayed on air…if he respects himself he should not call himself an NPP member. He is worst than Judas, I have lost every respect for that man”, he said.

Commenting on signatories of a petition leading to the remission of the Montie trio, he said all were members of the ruling party adding that the leading member of the opposition NPP, who also signed the petition, did that on his own personal accord and not representative of the stance of the party.

He accused President Mahama of setting a bad precedence in the remission of the Montie trio stating that the president will forever be remembered for taking a very unpopular decision even though it lies within his purview to exercise article 72 of the 1992 constitution.

We Will Pay 11.6 Million For Angel Obinim- Hon Diamond

Ghanaian artiste, Diamond Appiah and her associates are ready to pay the amount Daniel Obinim is said to have defrauded a gold dealer of.

In a Facebook post, she questioned why the leader of God’s Way International Church is being held and promised to pay the said money if only the case against Obinim is true.

Read post below.

Dear Ghana Police, Where is your complainant? Are u trying to tell Ghanaians that it was a Ghost that made a case against Bishop Obinim? We are ready to pay the 11.6 million cedis if is really true, but ur “Ghost” of a Complainant is out of coverage area? It seems he doesn’t exist.

Eeeiiii is Ghana a serious country? You claim the case was made to Ghana police in November 2015 so why arrest him now? To be continued….. #Still at Police Headquarters #Free Bishop Obinim Now !!” Diamond

More details below.

Controversial Pastor of the International God’s Way Chapel, Daniel Obinim, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department for an alleged complicity in a fraudulent case.

Obinim was reported to the Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police by a Gold Dealer for defrauding him of an amount of 11. 6 million Ghana cedis.

In an exclusive interview with Kasapa News, CID PRO, ASP Benefo Darkwah said the Gold Dealer had consulted a Fetish Priest (name only given as Dzakpasu) in November of 2015, on a family gold business deal that had 780, 000 cedis in proceeds and he wanted some deity rights done over the said amount. Subsequently, the Fetish Priest failed to help out. The gold dealer then reached out to Obinim to help him retrieve the said amount from the Fetish Priest, spiritually.

Obinim, Darkwah added, asked the Gold Dealer to part ways with an extra 11.6 million cedis, being remaining sum from the sale of the family gold treasures, if he is to help him out. He failed to work magic for him afterwards, leading to a compliant being lodged for his subsequent arrest today.

Darkwah told Kasapa News, the CID will also hand him over to the DOVVSU of the Ghana Police concerning the other case in which he has been captured on tape beating two teen members of his church.

I Will Defend My Husband Any Day- Florence Obinim

Florence Obinim, wife of Bishop Daniel Obinim has commented on the man of God’s recent act of punishing a pregnant girl and her boyfriend during church service.

The gospel musician during an interview defended her husband for flogging the teens who engaged in the immoral act. According to Mrs. Obinim, her husband acted upon what God manifested to him so she has nothing bad to say about his act.

She said had it not been Angel Obinim, she would not have noticed that the lady was pregnant.  She added that she needs no apology from her husband as people are demanding.

The “Osoro Ne Me Fie” singer said her husband did not disgrace her during the church service because he calls her Florence anytime he is in the Spiritual world.

The controversial pastor ignited public outrage after he was seen in a video flogging the pregnant girl and her boyfriend. Infuriated by the couple’s lustful actions which resulted in a pregnancy, Bishop Obinim beat the youngman on his bare back with his belt before turning to the girl flogging her mercilessly in the full glare of his congregation.

During the beating session, Obinim is heard questioning the jobless youngman why he got the girl pregnant when he has no finances for her upkeep and the upbringing of the unborn child. The girl who was unable to stand the flogging attempts to escape, but she was held by a right-hand man of the Bishop to enable the bishop to subject her to more beatings.

After that, Obinim instructed his junior pastors to remove their belts and subject the couple to more flogging.

Amazing!!! The Bride Who Refuses To Wear Make-up

Not all women are fans of wearing makeup, but when it comes to those big, special occasions, even the most makeup-opposed tend to opt for a few coats of mascara and a swipe of lipstick.

However, one women decided to throw this notion aside and go makeup-free on her wedding day, proving that natural beauty can be just as gorgeous as a flawless makeup application. Unsurprisingly, the Internet has blown up over this, causing the bride’s photo to go viral.

The unnamed Ghanaian bride, who uses the Twitter handle @Kofi_Batsa, refused to wear the typical face full of makeup found on most brides on their wedding day but ended up looking incredible for the big event anyway. Contrary to what one might think, the young bride, who’s trending on social media, ended up receiving hordes of support for her decision rather than criticism.

Ohemaa Mercy Surprises Husband With Birthday Bash

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and undoubtedly  Ohemaa has proved beyond doubts that she is indeed far worth than diamond and pearls. The gospel musician has celebrated her husband and manager in a grand style by treating him to a party which was graced by selected friends and family members.

Mr. Twum-Ampofo turned 40 on August 5 but the ‘Aseda’ singer postponed the celebration due to this year’s Tehillah Experience.

The strictly by invitation social gathering which involved eating, drinking, and entertainment was attended by close friends and relatives of the musician and husband and members of her management team.

The first and second born of the couple who are out of the country joined the party through Skype from their America-based residence.

Obinim Waves To Church Members From His Residence

Hundreds of jubilant members of the International God’s Way Church trooped to the house of Bishop Daniel Obinim to welcome him after he was granted bail in connection with a case of fraud involving GHS11.6 million.

Some of the congregants who were praising God and hailing his release decided to roll on the floor as others sang to signify that “the Angel has arrived”. Bishop Obinim, who later arrived in his SUV, climbed up to the upper floor balcony of his storeyed apartment and addressed the congregation in a striped, blue long-sleeved shirt and a pair of trousers. He was seen later waving at the crowd and blowing kisses as he thanked the congregation for their support throughout the difficult times he endured during his arrest and detention. His arrival was broadcast live on OBTV, owned by the bishop on Thursday August 25.

Bishop Obinim was granted bail after two nights in police cells. Apart from the fraud allegation against him, Bishop Obinim is also facing physical and verbal assault charges for flogging two teen lovers in church.

Meanwhile, the entire congregation of his church have said they will vote against the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in December’s general elections for orchestrating the humiliation of its founder and “God’s servant”.

After the preacher spent Tuesday night in the cells of the Nima Police Station, hundreds of his church members and fans massed up at the station to demand his release. After some frantic effort, the police were able to whisk the controversial man of God away to the police headquarters but the supporters besieged the CID Headquarters to demand that the bishop be released.

However, following the inability of the controversial clergyman to secure bail on Wednesday, the Youth Ministry of the church, in a statement signed by its president Solomon Adeyia, made a fresh demand for the “immediate release” of Bishop Obinim, failing which the estimated 50,000-strong congregation would “embark on a nationwide demonstration against the government”.

The statement also reiterated the pastor’s innocence of the allegations against him. “We are emphatically stating that our Bishop is innocent of the money-doubling fraud [allegation] levelled against him by an unknown complainant. Our Bishop has not received any amount of money…from anybody for doubling. Our Bishop is known for propagating the word of God and is not in any money doubling business.”

In the Youth Ministry’s view, the whole development is a red herring to deflect attention from the release of the Montie Three – Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn, and Salifu Maase, aka Mugabe – who were sentenced to a four-month jail term by the Supreme Court on July 27 for scandalising the court and bringing it to public ridicule, but were granted presidential remission after serving only a month of their term.

The congregation added: “We want to [lift] the veil shrouding the matter, by empirically stating that what is going on is a well-planned, concocted case by the NDC and the government to shift attention of the general public from the shameful release of the Montie Three who were jailed for threatening the lives of judges,” adding that they found the entire matter “disgraceful” and an attempt by the government to “score cheap political points and cover by lying and humiliating an ordained man of God in police custody”.

The Youth Ministry promised: “The entire congregation of about 50,000…shall vote against the government for tarnishing the image of God’s servant and International God’s Way Church

The decision of His Excellency the President to remit their sentences on compassionate grounds follows a petition submitted to him by the contemnors appealing to the President to exercise his prerogative of mercy even as they continue to express deep remorse and regret for the unacceptable statements they made against the Judiciary.

His Excellency, President Mahama takes this opportunity to remind all Ghanaians of the need to respect the institutions of State and exercise freedom of speech responsibly mindful of the need to preserve peace and national unity.

The President reminds all concerned especially persons working in the media or appearing on its platforms to be circumspect and guard against the use of intemperate language which has the potential of causing unnecessary tension especially in this election year.

The President is hopeful that all will draw lessons from the events leading to the conviction of the three persons and bear in mind the consequences of injudicious utterances.

EDWARD K. OMANE BOAMAH (DR.)

Mahama Has Dissapointed Me Am Starting A Hunger Strike-Lawyer Ampaw

Legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw will begin a 10-day hunger strike in protest of the pardon granted jailed Montie FM presenter and two panelists.

Maurice Ampaw said as part of the protest, he will go on a nationwide anti-Mahama campaign to thwart his second term bid in the upcoming elections.

Two radio panelists, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn and show host, Salifu Maase of an Accra-based radio station, Montie FM were sentenced to four months imprisonment by the Supreme Court on July 27, 2016, for threatening to kill judges of the Court.

The three were also fined 10,000 cedis each while the owners of the frequency of the radio station, and the directors were fined 30,000 cedis respectively.

A petition signed by Ministers of State and leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was presented to President Mahama to invoke his powers of pardon under Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution to grant them pardon.

The President then referred the petition to the Council of State for advice who recommended the contemnors’ be released on compassionate ground.

President in a statement signed by Communications Minister, Edward Omane Boamah granted a remission of sentence to the three inmates on August 22.2016.

A livid Maurice Ampaw on Adom News Monday expressed grave disappointment in the President’s decision to grant the Montie trio clemency.

In his view, the pardon will undermine the powers of the Supreme Court judges who sat on the case.

“President Mahama will pay dearly politically for free the Montie 3; he cannot do things to please his party to the detriment of majority of Ghanaians,” he fumed.

Maurice Ampaw said he will embark on a house-to-house campaign and educate the electorate on why President Mahama should be rejected ahead of the December 7 elections

SHS Matrons Shedding Tears Over Feeding Grants

The National Association of Domestic Bursars and Matrons has said that the untimely release of feeding grants by the government often affects planning, budgeting and implementation of its activities at the senior high schools.

Speaking at its 6th biennial conference and workshop in Cape Coast in the Central Region, the outgoing president of the association, Mrs. Lydia M.B. Millar, stated that a communiqué had already been sent to the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for his consideration.

Mrs. Millar therefore appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to dialogue with the appropriate authorities to release the funds on time.

She mentioned some of the challenges confronting the association as the unilateral discretion by heads of some second cycle schools in fixing rations per student, continuous employment of illiterate cooks by cost center managers in the service, upgrading and promotion of long-serving chief cooks to the rank of matrons as well as non-transfer of cooks and pantry heads who have been at post for long and in most cases, become inactive, lazy and had badly influenced others.

The Director General of the GES, Jacob Kor, hinted that his outfit and the Ministry of Education had stipulated the requisite qualification for the recruitment of domestic bursars.

The Central Regional Minister, Kweku Ricketts Hagan,  who spoke on the theme, “Promoting Quality Education Through Feeding – The Role Of The Domestic Bursars and Matrons,” stressed the need for matrons to provide students with nutritious meals that do not only make students healthy, but also have a powerful influence on their learning and how they can perform.

Mr Ricketts Hagan said the development of quality human capital is paramount to the development of the country.

“Education is the bedrock of the socio-economic development of every nation and therefore, I charge them to discharge their duties effectively to boost the educational sector of the country” he added

Pop singer Jon Germain has revealed that his music once saved a woman from committing suicide.

“Sometimes, the love out there is amazing and you know, I received an email from a fan. There is this American music website called numberonemusic.com. I woke up one morning and I saw a message from this woman who said, a few weeks before, all she ever thought about was suicide and then she heard my song titled: ‘With Great Intent’, which talks about the fact that even if I fall, even if I fail, I will definitely get up and make it one day, and it just changed her,” Jon Germain told Mauvie Hayford on Touch of Class on Class 91.3FM.

He noted that his songs were doing well outside the country and getting him international nominations and awards.
