Npp now ready for Manhyia North??
Executives of the New Patriotic Party have finally put plans in place to organise the long awaited parliamentary primary of the Manhyia North constituency.
Last Friday, executives in the party met the aspiring parliamentary candidates in the area to share ideas and outdoor plans for a successful election.
Disagreements over the photo album bearing a list of polling station executives who would constitute the Electoral College has made it impossible for the party to elect a parliamentary candidate for the area.
The constituency has been in and out of courts over the constituency executives.
The disagreement over the membership of the constituency executives led to the constituency being prevented from taking part in the regional and national congresses that elected the executives.
The constituency is currently the only one in the region that has not yet elected a parliamentary candidate for the party due to alleged irregularities and the concerns raised by the candidates vying the position.
But last Fridays’ meeting between the executives and the aspirants put a closure to the grievances that has constantly stalled the electoral process.
Investigations by Peacefmonline.com unearthed that candidates vying for the parliamentary seat proposed to the executives to change the bloated register and compile a new one.
Their opinions were accepted and 3rd June, 2016 was fixed as a date for polling station elections which would be followed by another election on 5th June, 2016 to elect Electoral Area Coordinators.
Then on 9th June, 2016, Constituency Executives would be elected to complete the album to be used to elect a parliamentary candidate.
The meeting was attended by Mr. John Boadu, Acting General Secretary of the NPP; Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Chairman; Maame Serwaa Dekye, 2nd Vice Chair; Lawyer Adom Appiah, Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary; Akwasi Kyei, Ashanti Regional Communications Director and Dr. Kwame Amoako-Tuffour.
