I Am For Dampare As The Next IGP - Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr Benard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi. Has made it emphatically clear that he Chairman Wontumi will never support any extention of office for any Inspector General of Police (IGP) again even if his own party in government tries to do that

Speaking on a Kumasi based radio station Ashh Fm's evening political talk show Boiling Point with the host Lord Anusa Ansah. He said the reason why there seem to be an increasingly tension in terms of security and serial killing of our police men are to be pushed on the neck of the  National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress Mr Ofosu Ampofo.

Chairman Wontumi claims that the national chairman of the NDC is to be blamed because in a purported leaked tape making rounds, it is alleged that Mr Ofosu Ampofo is supposed to have said on the tape that they will make this country ungovernable for the president his excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo to manage. So from this the chairman for the Ashanti region is calling on the Minister for Interior to give him contract to go and arrest the national chairman of the NDC.

When the host Lord Anusa asked him if he could help listeners to know why he is acussing the national chairman of such offense he said "It is unreasonable for any normal person to pick a gun n shot a police officer for no reason,it is politically motivated and if we continue to see it as normal occurrence, I Chairman Wontumi will never see it as normal.he Ofosu Ampofo is the brain behind all these and we must say it boldly for him to know that we know his evil plans to disturb our government".

He challenged government to appoint either Commissioner of Police Dampare or Commissioner of Police Kofi Boakye. He believes COP Kofi Boakye and him has got alot of issues before when he was the regional commander for Ashanti Region. But he believes he is the man for the Job as the next Inspector General Of Police.

He said for now he will go in for COP Dampare because he is senior to COP Kofi Boakye. And also asked government to further prosecute former corrupt officials and send them to jail. Because for him ex President Mahama is the most corrupt official in the world
